In the Reno-Sparks market sales of single family homes sold in June 2018 was 572 homes.  This is the lowest number of homes sold in June looking back to 2013.  In June 2017 we has 736 sales, so this June sales volume is down 23.9%.  Why is this you ask?  There are multiple factors but primarily there is a low inventory of available homes for buyers to choose from in the affordable price ranges.

Unit sales peak in the Summer months.  In 2013 & 2014 we saw August as the highest month for unit sales.  Since then, 2015 to 2017, we have seen June see peak sales.  Year to date May 2018 has just slightly edged out June for highest sales by 1 unit.  Will July or August surpass May/June and be our 2018 peak?

In the last couple of weeks we have seen the inventory of available homes for sale rise by several hundred homes over what was available in June.  So if buyers haven’t pulled back due to rising interest rates we could finish the Summer selling season with higher sales than in June.  Stay tuned.
